2 weeks as a Family of 4

2 weeks old
Today Abbey turned 2 weeks old.  We have had a very relaxing day.  Kate is on an extra special vacation with Mimi, Pa and the whole Coston Crew at the river.  She is having a blast and it is oh so quiet at our house!  Thank you to my sweet family for taking Kate on her get-a-way!

I took Abbey to the Dr. on Friday.  She has already surpassed her birth weight and is weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces.  She has also grown an inch and is 21 inches long.  She continues be a sweet baby.  She is still sleeping a lot, but has started opening her eyes more.  She is eating every 3 hours and we cannot get enough of her!!  Abbey made her first outing to my parents house so Kate could  make cookies with Mimi for Pa's birthday.  Susu even came over to join in on the fun and get some sweet snuggles from Abbey!  We also had a fun play date with Traci, Tripp, Karen and Susu.  Kate and Tripp are too funny together these days!

Happy bday Pa (Look at all those cookies)

Overall, a very special week for our little family.

1 week

It has been one week since Abbey joined our family.  So far, she is such a sweet sweet baby!  Lots and lots of sleeping, eating and diaper changes.  Speaking of sweet, Kate has been really good with her.  She randomly runs over to Abbey and says, "That's my baby sister!" Erik has been really hands on as well.  He is great with his girls.  I still can't believe we have 2 precious little ones!! My parents have been such a big help!  From loving on Kate, to enjoying their newest grand daughter they have made this week much easier on us.  Courtney even brought Noah (Nonie as Kate still calls him) over one morning for an extra special play date with Kate.  Tripp got to come over tonight along with the rest of Erik's family.  I loved watching Susie hold Abbey.  Babies are such a blessing.  Thank you Traci and Carl for bringing dinner.  We all enjoyed it!!

Here are a few pictures of our new little love.  (And yes she has lots and lots of very dark hair!)

Kate talking to her little sissy.  She will tell her about animals and ask why she is crying.  Kate also tells her goodnight every night.  I love it!  As you can see, Abbey is starting to love her paci.

Abbey did not like her 1st bath at home.  She cried and cried.  But soon she was happy when she was snuggled up with Daddy!  Here is what I told Kate about Abbey's 1st bath.
Me-- Kate I have something really funny to tell you!
(Kate looking intently at me)
Me--Abbey went poopie on daddy after her bath.  (Me waiting on Kate to crack up like I did)
Kate--That is terrible.
Oh, my Kate-Kate where is your sense of humor!!

Gotta love the big sissy too!!
Thanks for checking in,
Kristen

Pre-school here we come!

Coloring at meet the teacher
Our big girl Kate went to her 1st day of Pre-School last Wednesday.  She was ready!!  I have been going over and over the "routine" of school with her.  I have been telling her she is going to play, eat a snack, color, paint, eat lunch, read books and learn about Jesus.  She also heard a million times, "Mommy will be there after nap time to get you!"   She was excited about bringing her new lime (and I mean LIME) green back pack and lunch box.
Practicing eating her lunch from lunch box
Most of you know, that me and my little doll are pretty much connected at the hip.  So, I was nervous as to how the drop off was going to go.  Well, Kate did great!  She walked right in and started for the toys.  Just as I left her room the tears started from ME.  I would like to blame it on being 9 months pregnant, but I have not cried this entire pregnancy!  I think I was just sad to leave her.  Luckily, my mom was with me and we ran some errands and had a yummy lunch.

This is the best 1st day pic I got!--All smiles
When I got there to pick her up, she was helping "clean ups" as Kate puts it.  The teacher said she did amazing and didn't even cry!  They said she did not nap.  When I asked her about this she said, "Baby girls nap!" Uh Oh.  We could struggle in the napping department!  Mrs. A also said she loved story time and singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider.  Overall, a completely successful day for Kate.

Here is the picture she colored.  I was admiring it and she said, "Little boy color yellow." She said the same thing to Erik hours later.  Usually, Kate goes for the color blue  So, we are thinking she told us exactly what happened.  A little boy colored yellow on her paper.---too funny :)
Hope day 2 is as fun for her and there are no more tears from this momma!
