Turkey Day 2010

I feel a little behind on posting, on decorating my house for Christmas and well just about everything!! From the beginning, I wanted to do this blog so we could remember all the little things with our Kate. I have not been good at keeping up with her baby book (terrible I know!) but hopefully she will be able to look back at this one day and get a glimpse of our life as a family and smile.

Here goes---Thanksgiving 2010.
We started early on Sunday at the Schindewolf house. They were so sweet to let us reserve the day for them (even if it technically wasn't Thanksgiving!) I am very thankful for my sweet and loving in-laws. We feasted, played, walked the lane and had so much fun. Tripp and Kate were very amusing. Kate wasn't too cooperative when it came to photo shoots. It was nice spending the day together.

My parents river house is finally complete! We all spent our 1st of many Turkey Days at the river. The house is beautiful and is already decorated. It felt homey and so comfortable! We did not want to leave!! Thanks mom and dad. This was one turkey day for the record books. I loved eating my delicious meal surrounded by my loving family and staring out at the beautiful Guadalupe river. You should have never given us a key. If you see a for sale sign in our yard don't be surprised-- hee hee :)

Gotta love the timer on the camera!

Yay for Fall!

Kate got her picture with Santa for the 1st time.
She was not too friendly with him.

Who is in the box? Is it Daddy?

Silly Daddy

The wonderful back deck at the house.
We loved hanging out here until it was too cold!
(We had to bring in the plants!)

We have so much to be thankful for!

More bday fun!

Last weekend we had a few more parties for Kate. This time it was with both sides of Erik's family. Saturday was a big birthday bash with the Cowan side. By big, I mean Emma and Anna were turning 7 (they were our adorable flower girls at our wedding 4 years ago!), Joshua and Luke 3, and Kate 1. It was a big birthday party. It was great to see all the aunts, uncles and cousins. Aunt Peggy did some face painting. we played games and did a craft. The best part was watching all the kids play together, and this time our big one year old was in on the action. As Erik put it, she is in the "Cousin Club!"

Look at them now!--Too cute.

We ended our weekend with a Schindewolf family get together. It seems like it had been forever since we had all been together. Thanks for having yet another bday celebration for our angel Grammy and Coach!

Thanks for the cute pic Traci.

I promise--no more 1st birthday parties :)

12 month check up

32 inches & 23 pounds of pure delight

We headed to the Dr. yesterday for Kate's 12 month check up. I made it at 3:30 so Erik would be in attendance. Never, never willingly make the last appointment of the day. A toe prick, and 5 shots later we finally left the Dr. at 5:20 with an extremely upset toddler. So, what did the momma do??? Zipped through Mickey D's for a happy meal. Didn't really boost her spirits and I don't blame her. Before all the shots, Kate was more than entertaining. Erik was very amused. She seems to do this in new places (like the library) but he doesn't usually get to see her in "action."

updating her face book

having a little snack

It was traumatic for all of us!

very traumatic :(

Then it was back to happy Kate!

We hope your Monday was better than ours.

1st Zoo trip

We celebrated Kate's real birthday at the Houston Zoo. She was such a good girl. It was her first time and we all had a blast. It was a 83 degrees in November!! We rode the train, saw giraffes, tigers, monkeys, fish, elephants and rode a camel (on a merry-go-round!) She loved the petting zoo. Those poor goats!! She also enjoyed some ice cream--I mean it was her birthday. Here are a few pictures.

Thanks for reading,

1 year ago we were blessed beyond measure.
1 year ago we celebrated our little miracle coming into this world, and we haven't stopped celebrating and thanking God everyday for her.

Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

1st Birthday Party

The birthday girl walking in her tutu

We had a little ladybug party for Kate on Saturday. She doesn't officially turn 1 until the 12th, but why not start the birthday week off right?! It was such a beautiful day, and we enjoyed the park! Thank you to all of our family and friends who made it to help us celebrate our little miracle. Kate especially liked hanging out with her cousins Noah and Tripp, and her good buds Addison, Kimberly, Carter, Evan and Emily. What a memorable day! Enjoy the pictures of our sweet ladybug.

Grammy made these adorable bugs

I told you it was FUN! If the birthday girl is happy, everyone is happy :)
Thanks for celebrating!
